Privacy Policy

This policy explains what The OPED Media ("we", "us") collects when you use our website and mobile app, and how we use it.

Information we collect

  • Account details: name, email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash). If you sign in with Google or Apple we receive your name and email from them.
  • Profile details you choose to add: photo, bio, phone number, city, age and reading interest.
  • Content you create: stories, podcasts, live news, comments and reactions, and what you save or read later.
  • Subscription details: your plan and billing period. Card details are handled by our payment provider, Stripe, and never reach our servers.
  • Device information: a notification token if you allow push notifications.

How we use it

  • To create and secure your account, including emailing one-time verification codes.
  • To show you content, keep your library and follow lists, and let you comment and react.
  • To process subscriptions and grant access to premium content.
  • To send notifications about activity you asked for, such as new posts from writers you follow.
  • To review content and keep the platform safe.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that run the platform for us (hosting, file storage, email delivery, payments and push delivery) and when the law requires it. Your name, photo and public content are visible to other users where the app shows authors and comments.

Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings, which permanently removes your profile. You can also email us to request deletion or a copy of your data.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and passwords are stored hashed. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

Children

The service is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
